Colleges & Departments at EKU
Eastern Kentucky University is a regional, coeducational, public institution of higher education offering general and liberal arts programs, pre-professional and professional training in education and various other fields at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Not Sure About Your Major?
Don’t worry! It’s common to be unsure, and just because you pick something as a freshman doesn’t mean that’s the degree you’ll graduate with. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 80% of college students change their major at least once during their undergraduate career.
If you aren’t ready to declare a major at the time of admission, you’ll enroll as an exploratory student. This gives you some time to take general education courses and explore areas of interest. However, you must declare a major before completing 45 credit hours.
You can also use our Career Coach tool that uses short assessments to identify careers and majors that match your skills and interests.
General Studies
Make the most of the college credits you’ve already earned with a general studies degree. This program is best for students who have completed a number of college credits and are ready to finish up a degree. EKU offers associate and bachelor’s degree options in general studies so you can achieve your educational goals and be prepared to take your next step.
